Flying

Excitement! He was going to take me flying! We grabbed some lunch at Subway and drove to the field where that plane was kept. I had ridden in a small plane when I was eight so it wasn’t a totally new experience. However, I was very surprised at the size of the plane. It seemed tiny. I stood in the barn and watched as he maneuvered around the plane. He slid his hands over the sleek surface, checked the lights, measured the gas and all the other things that an experienced pilot does. He seemed to know exactly what he was doing, almost like a second nature. I enjoyed watching him as he prepared for the flight. He was doing what he loved best.

He opened the door for me and I climbed into the tiny cockpit. He got in the other side and before I knew it we were speeding down the grass runway. His takeoff was so smooth that I could hardly tell when the wheels left the earth. We soared through the air, enjoying God’s creation. The landing was gentle and smooth. My best friend is quite the pilot!

I ♥
