The Date

He called me, a few hours in advance. I was excited and a little nervous at the same time. Several of our friends were going out to eat at City Barbecue and he said that he would like it if I would like to come along.

“I will pick you up.” he said. I agreed and quickly got myself presentable for the first date in my life. At the appointed time he pulled into my driveway with his silver Alero. I felt a shiver run down my spine. It was really happening! He even opened the car door for me! We met up with our group and drove to the restaurant. No one really knew that we were dating, but they all figured it out when we shared a meal together. I enjoyed the evening a lot. Sure there were a few awkward times, neither of us had ever dated before. But it was such a blessing to learn together.

As the night drew to an end and we were pulling back into my driveway he asked “So how did you feel about the evening?” I told him that I enjoyed it.
“So did I.” he confirmed. Before I got out of the car, we prayed together, putting the final touch on the night.
