An Awakening

He took me to the airport at 5:30 in the morning. I was really looking forward to visiting Colorado and he had told me the night before that he was glad that I was able to go. As we arrived at the airport we had a quick prayer and then I lingered in the car while he got out and started unloading my suitcase. Earlier that morning I had written him a note and I wanted to slip in his car unnoticed. Mission accomplished. I went through the usual airport procedures while he waited. As we said one last goodbye before I went through security he slipped me a note. I couldn’t help but grin at how we had both written notes. I couldn’t wait to read his.
The weekend was such a spiritual high, and very encouraging, however, I couldn’t wait to get home. I missed seeing the special people in my life. My plane got in a little late because of the weather so it made 12:20 am seem later. Yet, there they were, waiting, my parents and Brad. It was so good to see them. We didn’t have much time to talk so he asked to visit tomorrow.
There was so much to tell him. I couldn’t wait to share my weekend with him and to hear about his. When he arrived he gave me a lovely bouquet of flowers. I couldn’t help but realize that I was falling in love. My heart was being awakened to love. I had always loved him, but this was more of a romantic love. He was captivating my heart on a different level. We sat by the fire pit, sharing the events of the past week along with some changes in his personal life and had a wonderful time of prayer. The presence of God was powerful. We sang a few songs together, prayed more and let the Spirit speak as we sat in silence.
“Do you think that the Lord has big plans for your life soon?” he asked.
“Possibly.”
He looked me in the eye, “I think he does, very soon.”
I interpreted that in my heart. Could he mean sharing a life together sometime soon?

Your story is so well-framed, dear. Isn’t it wonderful to remember how it felt to realize for the first time we were falling in love?

I stand by the bed each morning and watch you peacefully sleep as I hurriedly dress for work; in that minute I am reminded that I fall in love with you every day.
