Last week we celebrated independence day. As usual, we ate delicious hamburgers, potato salad, watermelon and homemade ice cream. The evening was spent surrounded by family. There we were eating to our heart’s content, talking about whatever we chose to, and sitting on a piece of personal property. We are blessed.
I am blessed not only with material things, like a home of my very own, but also with family. I couldn’t ask for better parents or in laws. I couldn’t dream up a better husband and certainly couldn’t create a more beautiful daughter. I’m thankful for all the times that we spend together in prayer. We are blessed.
I’m thankful for a world of color and beauty.
Most of all I’m thankful for Jesus and His extravagant love. He has the power to melt the hardest hearts. It brings me so much comfort to know that He truly is in control. Not just partially, but fully 100% in charge. No matter what conditions arise. No matter if this country doesn’t see another independence day. No matter what. God upholds the holds the universe by the word of His power. Are we thankful for His unchanging ways and our freedom in Him? We are bought with a price. We are sanctified in Him. Jesus paid the ultimate price to give us life and freedom from bondage. Will you too stand in that liberty? Raise that banner!
