Here Lies A Woman; There Stands A Man

 

Here lies a woman; there stands a man.
She silent lies. He silent stands.
With broken heart he reaches out
And gently strokes her folded hands.

They persevered through sun and storm,
Gentle in care, in promise firm.
And now he stands, with tender eyes
Regarding what before him lies.

He stands with loving hearts around
Bearing his burdened soul with sounds
Of whispered memory, quiet tears,
And prayer that only heaven hears.

Here lies the woman. There stands a man.
She rises up; he bated stands.
He calls her name and reaches out
To welcome her with wounded hand.

Has his love also not prevailed?
Her hands are folded; his were nailed.
He died a greater death so she
That crushing death would never see.

He stands in glory! All around
The seraphim and angels sound
The song eternal: Holy be
His blessed name, thrice Holy be.

There stand the woman and the man.
Here stands the other, earthly man.
Each cares, each loves; in them we see
The marvel of the God’s sovereignty.

Into the hands of Jesus we commend her with sorrow and joy.

Obituary

Hazel R. Wagoner, 90, of Covington, passed away Thursday, November 2, 2017.

She was born August 13, 1927, in Miami County, to the late Charles W. and Mary (Montgomery) Peters. She was united in marriage with Carl A. Wagoner on February 9, 1947, a marriage of over 70 years, and he survives.

Hazel Wagoner will also be missed and remembered by three daughters and sons-in-law, Judy & Stan Landes of New Carlisle, Carla & Joe King of Pleasant Hill, and Lisa & Bart Hoblit of Arcanum; eight grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two sisters; and one brother. She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Hazel was a homemaker and assisted in the family business for many years. She was a member of the Old German Baptist Brethren Church-New Conference, Sugar Grove District.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, November 6, at the Old German Baptist Brethren Church, 6360 W. Farrington Rd., Covington, OH. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, North of Covington.

Visitation will be 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the church.
