The Sun Rose

I walked out of the house this morning and went down to the creek. The sun was just breaking over the treetops onto the falls.

Again, the Lord is faithful. He has brought the sunrise to another day, and in this day to another month. The sun has risen on October 2019.

Blessed are you O Lord our God, King of the universe, who has given us life and sustained us and enabled us to reach this day.

October is my favorite month. The brilliant sun explodes on golden leaves and fields, the breeze dances in freedom from the heat of summer, and the woods speaks softly of homes and storehouses for winter. It is the season of harvest, campfires, and crunchy leaves. Best of all, it is the season of apple cider. This year is more special, though. We have been looking forward to this month for a long time. If God wills, we will be living in Honduras by the end of it. Our travel date is set for October 16, about two weeks from today.

For you, O Lord, have made me glad by your work;
at the works of your hands I sing for joy.

Psalm 92:4 ESV

We stand humbled before a sovereign God who has done many wonderful things to bring you and me to this day. His hand has created the world, given us life, and protected us.

The ones who live for Him stand as a testimony of His faithfulness. If we are the leaves, He is the tree. If we walk by faith, the reflection of our lives sings of His faithfulness.

They are planted in the house of the Lord … to declare that the Lord is upright.

Psalm 92:13,15 ESV

Points of Prayer

If you are praying with us, here are some things you can remember this month:

  • We are unsure what to do with our van. We could sell it, store it for use next summer, or lend it to another family until then. We are praying to find the right person who is interested in one of those options.
  • We are so thankful for all the people that surround us. Our friends in the Midwest, our team in North Carolina, and our partners in Honduras have all been so helpful in our transition to the field.
  • About 80% of the financial support we had with MMS has continued with MAG. We are thankful for God’s provision, and praying for the full support of our ministry budget.
