Dios es bueno… This phrase keeps going through my mind. I remind myself over and over that God is good. Even in the midst of all this, He is good. This past weekend was a little rough for us emotionally, Honduras had been taking some small steps towards opening. Hardware stores opened again, and the length of restrictions changed from 2 weeks to one week. Sunday we watched things opening up in Ohio and in other parts of the USA, however Sunday afternoon, we received news that the restrictions were tightening down in Honduras. Instead of one day out a week for groceries it would be one day every two weeks, hardware stores closed again, and the absolute quarantine was extended for another two weeks. We were rather saddened by the feeling that this is never going to end, but now a few days into the week, God has been revealing truth to me.
Revelation 23:13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.
Psalms 23:4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
Psalm 27:1 The LORD is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?
I’ve been reminded that this time which may have been meant for evil can be used for good. I take an enormous amount of comfort in that. There is such comfort in resting in the arms of the Savior, and leaning into His strength when I have little of my own because Dios es bueno.
Overall, the weeks are passing by quickly and we’ve still been keeping up with our Spanish classes on line. The days are filled with memorization, writing stories, taking exams, and trying to use it in our home. This past weekend our church here did a zoom conference for all the kids, they listened to a Bible story, sang songs, played a game and prayed together. It was nice for them to have a change in their Saturday and enjoy something new.
We’ve been getting groceries every week, and the supplies in the store are plentiful. A few weeks ago, some restaurants opened for delivery and we ordered some Chinese. It was so nice to have a little break from cooking! We are nearing the end of the dry season, and it hasn’t rained for 2 months or so, and everything is hot, very brown and dusty. “Anytime though,” the local say. So we wait, on the rain, changes, better spanish… and we repeat, Dios es bueno!

Thank you for this update, Crystal. There was no news from the Hoblets for a critical month, so I’m glad to see you are not merely “surviving.” but also continuing to push forward with language study, etc. Wishing you rich blessings in these poor circumstances, friends!
Thank you. We’ve been enjoying encouragement through Crosspointe’s sermon uploads, and look forward to the next time we can fellowship with you all.
Another truth for these times: “The Lord is good to all: and His tender mercies are over ALL HIS WORKS.” The works that bring us rest, the works that bring us pain, the works that bring us joy, the works that bring us trial… His mercies- tender mercies!- are there if we look for them.
Amen!! Thank you!
So happy to hear this update on you and your family! And thankful for your encouragement to us from God’s word!
Crystal and Brad, we r sorry! It just doesn’t seem quite fair…did slot more outbreaks occur when they started opening that they would put it that u can only go out once every 2 weeks??? Love and prayers!
They have been expanding their ability to do more testing, so yes the numbers have gone up significantly recently but I don’t think opening things up really made things worse… We are all praying for wisdom for the leaders, not just here or in the States but for the whole world. Blessing on you too.
Sure think of you every day and keep praying that things will soon improve for you!! We all know that the Lord knows about this and feel he is with us each & and every hour and we need him every hour🙏🏻🙏🏻
So glad to have an update from you! God is good! You’re in our prayers.
Thank you, Ashley. He is good isn’t He?!
So good to hear how you are and have a peak into your heart. Similar thoughts and feelings here. Psalm 62 had been my resting place, among others, “Let all that I am wait silently before the Lord. My hope is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation, my stronghold, I shall never be shaken.” Correspondingly, Exodus 14, “Do not fear. Stand still and see the salvation that the Lord will provide for you today… The Lord will fight for you, you must only be still.” God is not unaware of the circumstances of the world today nor of us! He is moving and working to his praise and glory! Dios es bueno!
Oh it’s so good to hear from you! I’m grateful you’re all well. I have been blessed with reading the Psalms and focusing on God’s faithfulness and His steadfast love.
Blessed by the Lord, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting! Amen and Amen.
Ps 41:13
