Last Thursday was a day we had really been looking forward to. During the very strict Coronavirus shutdown in Honduras, we have been in good spirits for two reasons: we were carrying on with Spanish classes online and looking forward to going back to the States to see family and our MAG team.
Thursday, it turned out, was not the day for that. Because of complications from the shutdown, we had problems in the airport with the immigration department and missed our flight. We returned to our friends’ house near the airport defeated and discouraged. We have reschedule for a flight next week, and we think we have paperwork now that will allow us to travel without problems. Still, this week has been a challenge. I’m going to ask you to pray with us this week.
- While the borders are closed, every flight has to be approved by the Honduran government as a humanitarian/repatriation flight. We are still waiting on that approval for flight we have booked.
- We are praying for favor with the officials. These are strange times, so nobody really knows how to respond.
- We have all felt especially susceptible to discouragement this week. It seems to come in sudden waves and be unusually heavy. I told Crystal I haven’t felt this moody since being a teenager. It feels like spiritual warfare for whether we will rest in God during uncertainty.
We praise God for blessing us during this time. We had friends to take us in during our time of distress. They fed, sheltered, and encouraged us. Their home-school room reminded me to stay positive.
We also were able to return to our apartment to spend the week, which has helped us feel like we have a home. We discovered a new walking path yesterday that we had not found in our 8 months here. (It was actually the first family walk we’ve taken since March. We decided that in the woods we would be complying with the spirit of the law, and we needed to get out.)
We have food and everything we need. Mostly, we are held in His almighty hand. No matter what happens next week, He will be faithful to provide for us. Even though we cannot see it now, we are certain that this delay will serve a purpose in our life. Maybe it already is.

We are praying fervently Brother!
Thanks man. Hasta pronto!
We will keep you in our prayers…as Satan is out to discourage Gods servants, our Heavenly Father is there to lead us along these challenging times. Sorry you had to experience this, and we pray the doors are wide open and things will go smoothly on your next scheduled time! ~Aaron and Wendy
Thank you Wendy.
Your friends at Crosspointe Church are jining with you in prayer this week!
We cherish your friendship and prayers!
We will also pray to our Father who knows All! It is hard in this life today and the spirit of heaviness is felt all over. Many are seeking answers and Gods people sure pray for His call to come Home! May many receive Him now!
We pray your hearts can feel Him close and will soon be on your way. Sorry for the delay. Will look forward to hearing you are home! God bless you!
Yes, this is my prayer too. This difficult year is proving that “the heart of man plans his ways, but the Lord establishes his steps.” I pray that many will learn to love this truth.
Yolanda and I are praying for you and family. Praying for all to go according to plan next week and for encouragement and peace for you all.
Thank you. We hope to see you when we get back to Alamance Co.
Yes, you are right – God’s plans are always purposeful (even if our eyes never see it).
Blessings in the wait! Dean and Anita
You all are in our prayers for your return home.
Thanks Uncle Tom!
So sorry to hear of the missed flight. I pray for strength against the discouragement. It’s very real but the Lord is all power, even over discouragement and disappointments! John 1: the Light shines in the darkness AND THE DARKNESS CANNOT OVERCOME IT! I’m praising God for the gifts even in the difficulty. I pray you have what you need to leave and the authorities approve you to fly. Love to you all.
Thank you for the encouragement Mary!
So sorry to hear of this bump in the road…praying that things go smoothly this next time…may you feel God’s peace and presence while you wait. Blessings! ~Ryan, Cheryl & Jordan
