Watching the works of His hands

We made it safely back to the states. This time we had zero difficulty and in fact we sped through immigration so quickly that we had to wait 2 1/2 hours to board the plane. God was so gracious in giving us a pleasant experience as we said goodbye to the beautiful country of Honduras that we’ve come to love. The whole day of travel went smoothly. I didn’t think we’d been gone from the states that long, but I was pleasantly surprised when I was washing my hands in the Houston airport and warm water came out of the facet. At first I was taken back but then I felt a goofy grin cross my lips and “Ahhhhhhh yes, we are back.”

We were picked up by our parents at the airport and we then spent a week in Ohio visiting family and our home congregation. Having been in our house for 4 months, it almost felt like we were being naughty to leave the house, but it was so good to see familiar faces and worship in a public setting. The transition was the hardest for the baby. A big chunk of her life or at least in her memory, life was just the 5 of us together at home. When we began to visit people and go places she became very overwhelmed. When we weren’t all together, she would get very agitated but she’s adapted quickly and now that Brad’s gone for most of the day she’s ok with it.

Enjoying her smoothie.

Currently, we are living in North Carolina and Brad is working on preparing for a test. In September/October all the pilots who are bound for Honduras (there are 3 other families) will spend a few months doing standardization. Having never worked together or even all met, they have a lot of preparing and sorting out procedures for flying, maintenance and things like that so that everyone can work efficiently and most importantly, safely! One of the families who is on our team is arriving here in North Carolina today and we get to meet them in person for the first time! Another family is from Austria, and a month or so ago it was doubtful that they would be able to come to the States for this training because of COVID complications. However, just this week they told us that there is a possibility of being able to come. Oh, to watch the hand of God stir!

When we left, Honduras was still almost completely shut down. Since then, government offices have slowly began to open and there is new hope that possibly the borders may open next week. It may not be open for tourists at that time but it is steps in the right direction! We are excited for this because, not only can our team get in the country if the borders open but also work teams can come! Earlier this year people were speculating that it may be next year before anything would change with the borders, and that would make things more challenging for us. But now… What a God we serve! Again, these things haven’t come to fruition yet but I trust soon.

“Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.”
