God’s Trajectory

Fire and smoke

Dust, heat, fires, and dead grass marks the end of the dry season here in Honduras. In Honduras fires are very common as farmers burn off their fields in preparation of the rains and replanting. However, many times the fires get out of control and begin to spread. Thus the air is filled with smoke and the sky turns gray. But after the first few good rains that usually begin in May the air and plants are washed clean and the sky returns to its brilliant blue hue. Those first few rains bring so much relief and life to the earth, the brown grass suddenly turns green and the dust caked leaves of the trees are rejuvenated. It’s such a beautiful thing to behold.

Sunday evening creek outing.

The natural cycles of nature are simply fascinating and never cease to remind us of God’s power. The older children have been studying Space Science in school, we are learning about our galaxy, different planets and all that fun stuff. I’m astounded by how our earth has been held in a perfect, unchanging pattern around the sun for thousands of years. It has never decided to leave the solar system and go off on a rabbit trail; or suddenly be sucked into the sun, or to stop rotating. It’s kept on the course that was set by the Master’s hands. Perfect, unchanging, and steady. I can apply that to my own life, not that I’m perfect, I’m light years from being perfect, but I can cling to the promise that God is perfect and unchanging. I’m more like the planet, because if He is directing my path than I will be on the trajectory that He wants me to be. Meteorites? No problem, though they may alter the surface a bit or cause discomfort I’m covered by His grace. Solar flares? Again, protected, though He may use a bit of heat to mold me after His image. The future may look vast or cloudy but the path cleared before me. Here’s to hurtling into the future!

News about us

This year may not look like what we had envisioned a year ago. It seems like things are ever changing and at the same time, the things we are waiting on to change are not. Yet, that’s God’s way isn’t it? He calls us to be servants and to obey, the rest – well that’s His specialty. He needs us to trust that He will take care of the rest.

We are nearing the end of the school season and are going to try a different school schedule next year. Instead of taking a long summer break we will do shorter breaks more often.

Finishing up kindergarten.
Meet Paco, the newest member of our family.

Praise

A very generous donor has blessed MAG with all the funds needed to send the airplane down here in a few months.

The other two families who are in language school are progressing well and getting a good understanding of the language. At least one of the families will be ready to finish in a few months.

So good to hear that you all are doing well! Sounds like spring has arrived there too! The dogwood trees are blooming here as well as the azaleas. We’ve planted a few things in the garden but are waiting a few more days on the tomatoes. I spent 9 days in Corpus Christi with our son & his family in April. Four of us had stomach bug while I was there but all are well now! We plan to visit our family in Tennessee in a week or so. Your children are growing so much! Thanks for the pictures! Have a great spring as we enjoy God’s new creations!! Ruth
