The annual medical brigade is always a highlight and a lot of work. This year was a little different as we had several volunteers come from the states. We even had a lovely Nurse Practitioner come all the way from Alaska! Every year is unique as God brings just the right people to help serve those in La Mosquitia.
Last year, people started arriving Sunday evening, this year we got off to a slower start. It was helpful as we all learned the flow and roles of each person on the team. The Learning Center building got put to use as a spot for registration, vital signs and triage. Having the extra space was nice to keep the clinic from becoming so congested.
The purpose of this care is to open the door to be able to share the Gospel. This woman received some bad news on her health condition, Eva, (in blue) spent some meaningful time with her, comforting and encouraging her. This picture really touches my heart.
In addition, another lovely lady from Ohio wanted to teach a class on feminine hygiene. Every afternoon she collected a group of young ladies who were waiting at the clinic to be seen. Under the shade of the pine trees, she with the help of an interpreter, explained anatomy and hygiene. She then passed out little bags with toiletries to each girl.
We saw a total of 775 patients this year. Praise God for His provisions, and His strength.

It’s Wonderful to see how many people were helped by your Medical Brigade! Glad you had good weather & the extra building to use this year! Praying that many seeds of the Gospel were sown that will grow into people coming to know Christ & living their lives for Him! Hope & pray that you all have a wonderful spring & summer as you plan & execute programs for youth as well as adults!
