Dios Bendiga Tu Viaje

(God Bless Your Trip, Hoblit Family)

After almost six months of living in Guaimaca, Honduras, we are preparing for another move. We moved to this house five and a half months ago, unsure how long we would be here or what we would accomplish. Here is a summary of how it went:

  • We hoped we would see more progress on certifying the runway here. We still don’t have a lot of clarity about what that process is, and we’re trusting God that now is not the time for that.
  • We were able to use the time buying supplies for the houses in Rus Rus and shipping things there to be ready for us. This includes batteries for our house, furniture, personal goods, etc.
  • We made good friends while we were here. That makes it harder to leave, but we carry in our hearts friends we didn’t have before. The joy they have brought into our lives is now part of us.
This family were some of our neighbors and friends during our time in Guaimaca.

Our friends here blessed us with a send-off the other night (see the photo at the top). They have become people we care for, and they for us.

Now we are ready to go to the third phase of housing since we arrived back in Honduras at the beginning of this year.

Our house in Rus Rus is very peacefully situated.

This week we are moving to Rus Rus, a small village in a very remote part of Honduras. It is a quiet village along a scenic river, a place where vegetation grows in every luscious shade of green. The community is small, and everyone knows each other. It is hundreds of miles from the nearest factory or industrial complex and all of the pollution and noise they generate. Most of the food is locally grown, and nearly everything is hand-made. Downtown traffic is when there’s a pig standing on the path you’re walking.

Of course, each of these points has a difficult side. (I actually had a contrasting paragraph written to demonstrate, but I’ll leave that for your own analysis.)

We do not know how long we will live in Rus Rus. I believe that we will also learn to love Rus Rus in a special way so that if the time comes for us to leave we will probably wish to stay. God knows the future, and his plan is right.

Prayer Points

As we move this week, here are some special prayers you can share with us:

  • This makes the ninth move in two years. To be honest, we are tired from living in transition. The sense of temporary isn’t over when we arrive in Rus Rus, so pray that we would look for a heavenly city and remember that we are strangers and pilgrims in the world.
  • Each move has had its unique challenges, but this is by far the most difficult logistically. There’s no easy way to get to Rus Rus (we will be traveling two full days, but it’s only 170 miles “as the crow flies”). It’s a complicated dance to get everything there at the right time. Pray that the trip goes well for the family, and nothing gets lost or overlooked.
  • Pray for our integration into our new community. We have never lived in a place where we were so dramatically outsiders. Our sole purpose is to be living examples of Jesus, loving and helping as he did and does.
  • Praise God with us for how he has provided for us each step of the way. Through all the bumps and questions of the last few years, we have never lacked what we needed to move ahead.

Our move to Rus Rus rides on the back of years of preparation, but it is only the opening door to fulfill what God has in store. He has faithfully led us to this point, but it’s far from the last point plotted on his divine map.

If you say “Go”, we will go.
If you say “wait”, we will wait.
If you say “step out on the water”, and they say it can’t be done,
We’ll fix our eyes on you, and we will run.

Your ways are higher than our ways,
And the plans that you have made are good and true…
