An opportunity to bless.

The Christmas season is quickly approaching. Here the weather has turned “cold” at 70 degreees or so at night. Most of Honduras has been geared up for Christmas since October and dreams of fresh hot naca tomales is in the near future. This year our team’s pastor, Esau has been connecting with Samaritan’s Purse. He was the one who orchestrated getting the children’s discipleship progam out here to us.

This year Esau has been able to aquire 300 or so Samaritan’s Purse shoeboxes for our community and the surrounding areas. Granted, they have not yet arrived, but we are trusting in the Lord’s perfect timing. In our minds, since there are Christmas boxes available and already here in country, this year it feels like the need has shifted. As in years past, we would still like to have a Christmas party for our community, and with the kid’s boxes coming, we would like to provide a gift to the families. Last year our team was blessed with a donation to buy chickens and a tarp for each family. The cheers that errupted when we announced that we had gifts not just for the children but also for the adults was unforgettable.

Our Christmas party costs a little over $500 for food to feed around 250 people. It’s a simple meal, with rice, a portion of meat, a small salad, cake and drinks. Our intention is that everyone who comes leaves full, not just their stomachs but their hearts.

If you would like to help share the joy with the Village Christmas party, whether it is the food or gifts for the families, here is how.

“The Lord your God is in your midst,
    a mighty one who will save;
he will rejoice over you with gladness;
    he will quiet you by his love;
he will exult over you with loud singing.” Zephaniah 3:17
