Realization: 2020

I can’t think of another New Year as exciting as 2020. As I look forward, I see a lot of potential on the horizon. Now is a thrilling time to be part of Missionary Air Group. This year appears to be a big one for the ministry. All these plans are in God’s hand, so I preface this whole article with a hearty dose of “if the Lord wills…”

[Edit 5 months later: Boy was that ever the understatement of the year! I don’t think there has ever been a year where that statement was more universally appropriate than the year of Corona-virus. Everything has changed!]

A Home In Honduras

For several years, MAG has been looking for a different location to base the airplane and aviation staff in central Honduras. This property in particular has been the subject of our prayer for about a year and a half. God has opened the door to begin preparing it for use. Right now, plans are being finalized to begin remodeling the houses, which have been abandoned for over a decade. The first phase will take place through the spring and summer in preparation for our team to begin arriving in the Fall.

Team Organization and Training

One of the frequent conversation and prayer points in recent years has been people. Even when our family was accepted last year, it was uncertain who would be on our team. Again, God is making a way. In July we will convene with the three other families on the Honduras team, hosted by our wonderful colleagues in North Carolina. It will be our first chance to really focus on being a team, organizing our responsibilities and clarifying our vision. We will do some flying and training together as well.

Feet On the Ground

When the team is in order, our family will return to Honduras and help continue work on the mission facilities. The other families will soon follow. Once we have enough of the team in place, we will work on building a hangar and getting the airplane on site.

This, ultimately, is our goal: to serve isolated people from our accessible location in central Honduras. We will once again provide a vital link that will carry medical care, relief, education, and the Gospel in the name of Jesus. It is an immense privilege to be part of this work. Thank you for standing with us.
