Start: Medical Brigade

Today is the start of a big week. For months now, we’ve been very, very busy preparing and planning for this week. We’ve prayed for finances, doctors and nurses, and God has been so good. In the beginning phases of planning for this medical brigade, we were having trouble getting people who were willing to come and volunteer. However, we now have two dentists, two general doctors, and two nurses who arrived a few days ago and are now working hard in the clinic. On Wednesday, a third doctor is coming along with a nurse or two. God has put together a good assortment of people to work with along with us and the 2 permanent nurses here in Rus Rus. We’ve been challenged by last minute changes, plans that didn’t work out, and details that were overlooked, but I feel that God is behind it and is working everything together for good. Really, it’s not what we do, we are obedient to His calling and He does the rest.

The biggest focus of the brigade is not just to provide medical care but to share the gospel and love of Jesus. This year we have two pastors who are dedicated solely to spending time with the patients and addressing their heart needs. We’ve been praying for a bountiful harvest and for many seeds of hope to be planted and grown. Even the healthiest body will one day die and only the soul will remain. Lets continue to pray for transformed lives!

Dental care is non existent, so many people come only to have bad teeth removed.

Being so remote, brigades like this, is sometimes the only medical care these people can get. Some walk for a few days just to be seen by a doctor. In the past we’ve seen 100 patients per day, many who are from Nicaragua because we are so close to the border. Though most people in our village speak spanish, the majority of La Mosquitia does not, so we asked a few locals from Rus Rus to help with translation. They are such a valuable asset.

With day one just finishing up, no doubt the numbers, and the stories will be rolling in. We will try our best to keep you updated. Please keep praying for the brigade and thank you to those who are personally involved in one way or another. Your involvement and support means a lot!

Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you all.

Awaiting their medicine.

Thank you for the update. It is so exciting to hear that the much prayed for Medical Brigade has begun. You are all covered in prayer. We are praying that God will use our MAG families, along with the visiting medical professional, to minister to the physical and most importantly the spiritual needs of those that come. May God shower you with many blessing this week!
